Paracetamol syrup cause death children

Nigerian health authorities have warned of the existence in the country market with paracetamol syrup, adulterated with other hazardous components, which can cause kidney damage and kill children.
The Department of Health, Government of Lagos State, where the largest city, warned in a statement that, in collaboration with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration (NAFDAC), investigated this case, similar to another registered the country two months ago.
In the note, Jide Idris, director of the Department, not the number of affected states detected and if there have been deaths, and does not identify the brand or brands of syrup adulterated, but recommends that you avoid using any.
Idris also called on health institutions in the region to monitor the possible occurrence of children with kidney disease and to inform the authorities if they are located.
Last November, thirty children were killed in Nigeria by the use of a syrup to help the child teething also containing paracetamol and caused kidney damage.
On that occasion, the Nigerian health authorities closed the Barewa pharmaceutical company, based in Lagos, the producer of syrup “My Pikin”, identified as responsible for the deaths.
